Youth held for stealing vehicles with minor’s help; 5 vehicles seized

Pune: Deccan ExpressPune Crime | A thief has been arrested by the anti-robbery and anti-vehicle theft squad of the crime branch for stealing vehicles with the help of a minor. The police took this action on Friday (August 12) at the labour camp of Hingne Mala located in Hadapsar. Five crimes have come to light and five vehicles worth Rs 1 lakh 18 thousand have been seized. The accused has been identified as Aditya Atmaram Mhaske (19), a resident of Hadapsar, Pune. A minor has also been apprehended. An FIR has been filed against the accused at the Hadapsar police station.


A team of unit 2 of anti-robbery and anti-vehicle theft squad was patrolling under an all out operation on Friday. Policemen Shivaji Jadhav and Manoj Kharpude got a tip that two persons were sitting suspiciously on a motorcycle in the labour camp of Hingne Mala. The police laid a trap and arrested them. During the inquiry, they admitted stealing vehicles from the jurisdiction of Loni Kalbhor, MIDC Bhosari, Chandan Nagar and Daund police stations. The police have seized five vehicles worth Rs 1 lakh 18 thousand from them. The accused were handed over to the Hadapsar police for further action.


The action was taken by a team including policemen Uday Kalbhor, Rajesh Abhange, Dinkar Lokhande, Vinayak Ramane, Manoj Kharpude, Shivaji Jadhav, Ganesh Lokhande and Amol Sartape under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Srinivas Ghadge, ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar and senior PI Sunil Pandharkar.
