Pune : Deccan Express – Pune Crime | A loan guarantor committed suicide after he was pressured to repay loan instalments and was warned of his arrest after the debtor failed to repay the loan. The debtor and two policemen have been booked. The Samarth police registered a crime for abetting the suicide. (Pune Crime)
Kiran Bhatlawande of Manjari, policemen Bhagwan Dnyandev Nikam and Sachin Ramchandra Barkade attached to the Samarth police station have been booked.
The victim has been identified as Rajendra Raut. His daughter Vaishnavi Rajendra Raut (23) from Nana Peth lodged a complaint in this regard. The incident took place early on Monday.
According to the police, Bhatlawande is the victim’s friend. He had bought a car from Raghuveer Business Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad. He had taken a loan to buy the car, for which Raut was a guarantor. Bhatlawande did not repay the loan. Hence, Nikam and Barkade used to visit Raut’s house with the court warrant. They were threatening to arrest him. Raut had paid Rs 7,000-8,000 to avoid arrest. Raut was fed up with this torture and told Bhatlawande to repay the loan. However, he refused to repay it. On the contrary, he threatened Raut. Therefore, Raut hanged himself at his residence at around 6 am on Monday. DCP Priyanka Naranaware and other officials visited the spot after learning about the incident.
The three persons have been booked. API Mali is investigating the matter.
