Sameer’s father Hussainsab Mohammadsab Manoor (67), a resident of Kalubainagar, Ambegaon Budruk, lodged a complaint in this connection. According to the police, Sameer used to stay at Janata Vasahat earlier. Mahboob has a kiosk at Janata Vasahat. He is a moneylender and runs a Bhishi system (a private savings group). Mehboob had contracted Sameer a construction work at Santosh Nagar, for which he had given Rs 5 lakh to Sameer. Of this amount, Sameer had paid back Rs 2.5 lakh. Mahboob was constantly demanding the remaining money from Sameer. They had disputes on the issue earlier. This led Mahboob, along with three others, to conspire against Sameer.

Sameer was heading towards his office at Dattanagar on his two-wheeler around 11.30 pm on Monday. He took a halt to have tea at a shop when two bike-borne men fired six rounds of bullet at him. Sameer collapsed on his vehicle as bullets were pumped into his head. He died on the spot.

The Bharati Vidyapeeth police have held the three accused.
