Social Security Cell of Pune police crime branch raids Appa Kumbhar’s gambling den on Barne Road

Pune: Deccan ExpressPune Crime | After the strong action being taken by the SSC of the Pune police crime branch against the illegal businesses, Appa Kumbhar had continued to operate his gambling den by using new tactics. The police had raided his den in Mangalwar Peth on June 11at 2.45 am and acted against 36 people. It had been found that gambling was going on in an air conditioned hall in the basement. However, the action taken by the Samarth police has proved that the gambling den of Appa Kumbhar was being operated despite the earlier police raid. The den was being operated on Barne Road and the police have arrested five people. (Pune Crime)


Shubham Rajendra Waghere (26), a resident of Nana Peth, Sunil Subhash Jagtap (39), a resident of Nana Peth, Sandip Maruti Saykar (39), a resident of Ganj Peth, Amid Ghafoor Khan (45), a resident of Lohegaon, Sachin Suresh Bhujbal (38), a resident of Mundhwa have been arrested. A case has been filed against Appa Kumbhar, a resident of Nana Peth.


Police constable Hemant Vishnu Perne has lodged a complaint at the Samarth police station.


The SSC had raided the luxurious gambling den of Appa Kumbhar on Barne Road and seized goods worth Rs 2.75 lakh. The police had filed a case against 23 people. However, even after this action, it seems the gambling dens of Appa Kumbhar continued to operate.


When API Sandip Jore of Samarth police station and his aides were patrolling the area in their jurisdiction, they came to know that gambling was going on at a place on Barne Road in Mangalwar Peth. When the police went there, they found that some people were gambling on a road. The police apprehended five people and seized Rs 1950 and gambling equipment from them.


The police also arrested two persons for gambling near the vegetable market near Shahu garden in Somwar Peth. They have been identified as Shrikant Sanjay Dhoble (32), a resident of Mangalwar Peth and Anand Prasad Bhosale (50), a resident of Somwar Peth. One thousand 30 rupees and gambling equipment has been seized from them.
