Pune Police Crime branch raids six online gambling dens in Shivaji Nagar, goods worth Rs 4.55 lakh seized

Pune: Deccan ExpressPune Crime | Since last few days, the Pune police crime branch has been taking punitive action against illegal gambling dens. A team of the crime branch raided a den where online gambling was going on in the limits of Shivaji Nagar police station. The police raided six dens at the same time where online gambling was taking place and seized goods worth Rs 4 lakh 55 thousand and took action against 55 people. On Monday evening, the police came to know that in the limits of Shivaji Nagar police station, illegal online gambling was taking place at Swastik Lottery Centre, Star Lottery Centre, Savera Lottery Centre, Sai Prateek Lottery Centre, Shah Lottery Centre and GPS Lottery Centre.

 

A team of policemen, decoy customers and panches raided the illegal dens at 4 pm and took action against 55 people under section 420 of IPC, sections 120 (B), sections 4(A) and 5 of Maharashtra Gambling Prevention Act and IT Act section 66 (C) and (D) and an FIR was registered at the Shivaji Nagar police station.

 

Goods worth Rs 4 lakh 55 thousand 580 including cash of Rs 66,980, 36 mobile handsets worth Rs 1,83,500 and gambling equipment worth Rs 2 lakh 5 thousand 100 were seized from the accused.

 

The entrance of the dens is covered with thick curtains and an outsider doesn’t know anything if the lights are switched on or if there is a crowd. If there is a police raid, the power supply is switched off and the players are told to exit from the back door.

 

The action was taken by a team of police officials including Senior PI Rajesh Puranik, PSI Supriya Pandharkar, woman constable Mohite, Shinde, Pukale, constable Kumawat, police naik Pote, Bhosale, Jamdade, police naik Pathan and Kamble under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik.Addl CP Ramnath Pokale and DCP Srinivas Ghadge.

 

A team of probationary PSIs had also taken part in the action on the orders issued by the police commissioner.
