Pune: Deccan Express – Pune Crime | The Pune police crime branch has arrested a moneylender for demanding more interest from a person who had already repaid a loan of Rs 10 lakh with interest and threatening him to fix his son’s marriage with a widow. (Pune Crime)
The moneylender has been identified as Anil Jaibhagwan Bansal (53), a resident of Hariganga Society, Market Yard. A case has been registered against Anil Bansal.
A 54-year-old businessman from Kothrud has lodged a complaint at the Market Yard police station. The incident took place from January 24, 2017 till now.
According to the police, Anil Bansal owns a shop at Market Yard. The complainant had gone to the office of the accused. He had taken a loan of Rs 10 lakh by promising to pay an interest of Rs 22,000 per month for purchasing a paper cup machine for his son’s business. At that time, Bansal had taken original documents of the complainant’s flat in Kothrud and a blank cheque. The complainant had returned Rs 12 lakh 93 thousand including the principal and interest. However, the accused did not return the documents of complainant’s flat and the blank cheque. The accused went to the complainant’s house and demanded more interest.
Since the complainant sought some time, the accused asked him to fix his son’s marriage with a widow and told him that he will not return the flat’s documents. When the complainant protested, the accused abused him and threatened to assault him. The complainant had lodged a complaint with the crime branch. After DCP Srinivas Ghadge issued orders, a case was filed against Bansal and he has been arrested.
