Pune crime | A tanker owner, two others booked for adulterating furnace oil supplied to Serum Institute

Pune: deccan express  – Pune crime | An incident of adulteration of furnace oil supplied to world-famous Serum Institute of India (SII) has been reported. The Hadapsar police have booked three persons, including the owner of an oil tanker.

The arrested have been identified as tanker owner Umesh Madhukar Shinde, driver Bhairavnath Jadhav (27) and cleaner Ganesh Tanaji Jadhav (21), all residents of Solapur. Ashish Mali (32), a resident of Tingrenagar, has lodged a complaint on behalf of SII in this regard. The incident happened at around 3.30 pm on November 22 and around 12 noon on November 23.

According to the police, SII had ordered furnace oil for its internal use. Thus, a tanker containing furnace oil was sent to the company. However, three tonnes of oil was offloaded from the tanker before it reached the company premises. An adulterated oil of the same quantity was filled in its place. Thus, the company was cheated of over Rs 8.50 lakhs.

The crime branch unit VI detected the crime. Later, a complaint was lodged on behalf of the company. API Patil is investigating the matter.
