6 people arrested for accepting bets on India-West Indies T-20 match

Pune : deccan express Pune Crime | The Pune police have arrested six people for accepting bettings on the first T-20 match between India and West Indies. The police raided a flat in a society located in Gultekdi and arrested the accused and seized goods worth Rs 7 lakh.

 

The accused have been identified as Ambadas Chandrakant Tavaskar (23), a resident of Osmanabad, Samir Yashwant Jadhav (41), a resident of Somwar Peth, Dhananjay Suryakant Gaikwad (34), a resident of Milindnagar, Ghorpadigaon, Anil Ratnakar Balkawde (36), a resident of Sadashiv Peth and Dineshkumar Mangilal Prajapati Palewal (25), a resident of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Manoj Someshwar Bhokre (30), a resident of Mohammadwadi, Hadapsar has lodged a complaint at the Swargate police station.

 

According to the police, a one day match between India and West Indies was being played on Wednesday night. The police came to know that bets were being accepted on the match in a room adjacent to the compound of Kawaji Housing Society.

 

The police carried out a raid at 8.45 pm and they saw that bets were being accepted on a mobile and laptop during live TV coverage. The police arrested six people who were taking bets. Cash of Rs 13,900 and other goods including a mobile totally worth Rs 7 lakh 21 thousand 900 was seized from them.

 

The mobile being used to accept bets has a SIM card of another person and it was illegally being used for betting. API Rasal is investigating the case.
