Pune : Deccan ExpressPune Crime | The parents of an 11-year-old boy had kept 20-22 stray dogs in their house because of their love for dogs. This affected the behaviour of the boy who started behaving like a dog. After he bit some students in the school, he had been forcefully confined to the house. After an NGO came to know about this, the boy was rescued with the help of the police. The Kondhwa police have filed a case against the boy’s parents. (Pune Crime)

The Pune district coordinator of Childline, Aparna Modak (47), has lodged a complaint at the Kondhwa police station. Child line has started a helpline to help teenagers (helpline number: 1098). A person contacted the helpline and informed Childline officials that 20-22 stray dogs have been kept in a flat in Krishnai building in Kondhwa and a boy has been forcefully confined in the flat.

The activists of Childline reached the area and they realised that the boy was behaving like a dog. He was sitting near the window and there were 20-22 dogs in the house. Foul odour was emanating from the house. The activists tried to explain and convince the boy’s parents about the need to send the boy to a school. They were also told that the boy should not be kept in the company of the dogs. However, there was no improvement in the boy’s parents’ behaviour, said Aparna Modak in a complaint.

When enquiries were made with the neighbours, the activists of Childline came to know that the boy never steps out of the house and stays with the stray dogs. The boy was not going to school. Later, Modak apprised Senior PI of Kondhwa police station Sardar Patil about the situation. Patil visited the spot and asked officials to take necessary action. A case was filed on the issue.

PSI Chaitraly Gapat is probing the case.
