Pune : Deccan Express – Pune Anti Corruption | The Pune Anti-Corruption Bureau (APCB) has nabbed an Assistant Inspector of Police (API) for accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a private individual by demanding Rs 5 lakh to help him get bail in a fraud case filed at the police station. Assistant Inspector of Police Rahul Ashok Patil (age 33) and Santosh Bhausaheb Khandve (age 45, resident of Lohegaon) are the names of those caught red-handed while accepting bribe.
An FIR has been registered against the father of the complainant (age 22) at the airport police station. Rahul Patil (API) is working as an Assistant Inspector of Police in the police station. Santosh Khandwe compromised with the complainant and demanded Rs 3 lakh. Later he settled to pay Rs 1 lakh today.
Later he lodged a complaint with the Pune Bribery Prevention Department.
While the team was investigating, Assistant Inspector of Police Rahul Patil asked Santosh Khandve to accept the bribe money.
Accordingly, the squad set the trap on Wednesday (Sept. 8). Santosh Khandve was caught red handed for accepting bribe money for Assistant Inspector Patil.
This action was taken under the guidance of Pune Bribery Prevention Division Superintendent of Police Rajesh Bansode, Additional Superintendent of Police Suraj Gurav, Addl SP Suhas Nadgauda by Pune Bribery Prevention Department Inspector Sunil Kshirsagar, Inspector Sandeep Varhade, Constable Ankush Mane, Constable Dinesh Mane, Women Constable Pooja Pagire and Driver Constable Raut.
