Osmanabad : Deccan Express – Fir On Police Inspector | A policeman from Osmanabad police station has allegedly beaten up a rickshaw driver for no apparent reason. A case has been registered against two police personnel, including a police inspector, for assaulting a rickshaw puller at Anandnagar police station. The incident has caused a stir in the police force and a case was registered on Tuesday night. The complaint has been lodged by autorickshaw driver Farid Ismail Sheikh (resident of Vikas Nagar).
Farid Sheikh had parked his rickshaw near a paan shop on Latur Road. At that time, Police Inspector Satish Chavan of Anandnagar Police Station and police personnel Mukram Pathan came there. Pathan told Farid to bring paan for him. However, due to the delay in bringing the paan from Paanwala, Pathan started using illicit words. When Farid tried to mediate, Pathan also insulted him and lodged him in a police vehicle. At the police station, police inspectors Chavan, Pathan and another beat Farid with batons.
Farid’s brother came to the scene and filmed the incident. Farid was later released by the police. Farid lodged a complaint in the case but the police refused to register a complaint. Farid lodged a complaint with Osmanabad Superintendent of Police Rajtilak Roshan. Injured Farid’s statement was recorded and after that Tilak directed to take action. A case has been registered against Anandnagar police station inspector Satish Chavan, Mukram Pathan and another police officer for assault and abuse.
