Pune : deccan express – Anti Corruption Bureau Maharashtra | A godman was held for cheating people promising them ‘money shower’. An API and two others demanded Rs 10 lakh to help in securing bail for the godman.
After negotiations a compromise was reached. The three accused settled the deal at Rs 7 lakh. They were arrested red-handed while accepting the bribe.
The accused API has been identified as Anil Ghugal (51). The two private individuals have been identified as Vidyut Vasani and Vishal Makde, both residents of Yavatmal. An offence has been registered against the three at the Yavatmal city police station.
According to details given by the police, a case in this connection has been filed against the 31-year-old godman at the Lohara police station in Yavatmal. He has cheated many people of lakhs of rupees by promising to bring ‘money shower’. This case was registered on November 15.
API Ghugal had demanded Rs 10 lakh from the complainant for sending a favourable report to the court for securing bail. The complainant approached the ACB, Yavatmal on December 6.
The ACB verified the complaint. Later, a compromised was reached between the accused and the complainant. The accused settled for Rs 7 lakh. The ACB laid a trap at Dollar Mobile Shoppee in SBI Chowk area. The bribe was routed through Vishal Makde. Vidyut Vasani was held for encouraging him to accept the bribe.
The action was taken under the guidance of Amravati SP Vishal Gaikwad, Addl SP Arun Sawant, DySP Sanjay Mahajan. A team comprising DySP Kishor Mhaswade, PI Vinod Kunjam and police personnel Sunil Jaibhaye, Shailesh Kadu took the action.
