Palghar : Deccan Express – Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Thane | An office assistant of the Palghar district caste certificate committee who had demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 to issue a validity certificate after caste certificate verification, has been caught red handed by the ACB Thane officials. The office assistant has been identified as Sachin Arun Hire (32). ACB Thane officials carried out this action after laying a trap and this has created a flutter in Palghar.
A 37-year-old man had lodged a complaint with ACB Thane. Sachin Hire is posted as office assistant at the district caste certificate committee in Palghar. He demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 to issue a validity certificate after getting it verified by the committee. As a compromise, Hire had agreed to accept Rs 25,000.
Since the complainant was unwilling to pay a bribe, he lodged a complaint with the ACB office. When ACB Thane officials verified the complaint, they found that Hire had sought a bribe of Rs 30,000 to issue a validity certificate after getting it verified by the caste certificate committee and had agreed to accept Rs 25,000.
Officials of ACB Thane have taken Hire into their custody.
The action was taken by PI Swapan Biswas, police constable Amit Chavan, Vilas Bhoye, police naik Deepak Sumda and woman police naik Swati Tarvi under the guidance of ACB Thane SP Punjabrao Ugale, Addl SP Anil Gherdikar and DySP Navnath Jagtap.
