1 killed in firing by Nepal police near border

NEW DELHI: An Indian youth has died in the firing by Nepal Police on the border in Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh while one person is missing.

According to the information, three people got into a clash with Nepal Police over some matter. A large number of villagers had gathered after the incident. Indian officials also reached the spot.

The case is being reported as drug trafficking.

Govinda Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Pappu Singh of village Raghavpuri Tilla No.4 of Hazara police station area had gone to work in Belauri Bazar, Nepal. On their way back in the evening, they clashed with the Nepal Police over some issue.

Govinda Singh (26) was seriously injured in the firing. He died at Belouri Primary Hospital.

Pilibhit Superintendent of Police Jai Prakash said, “We has got information that three Indian nationals who had gone to Nepal had confromtationwith Nepal Police over some issue.One man has been shot and succumbed to injuries in a hospital. Another one crossed the border and entered the Indian side to save his life. While the third one is still missing.”

A man who escaped into the Indian border is being searched. After inquiring with him, the entire incident can be known. Force on the border is fully alert. SDM, CO and other police forces are present on the spot. At present, there is everything under control at the border. The Nepal Police is in touch with the Indian Police and the SSB.
