FIR registered against former cricketer for alleged offensive ‘casteist’ remark against Yuzvendra Chahal

Chandigarh: A case has been registered against former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh for offensive casteist remark made last year in Hansi police station. The former all-rounder is likely to get arrested in a couple of days, said sources.

According to the sources, Yuvraj Singh has filed a petition in the high court of Punjab and Haryana to dismiss the case and he has also demanded that Hansi police should not commence the investigation on the case.

The case was registered against Yuvraj by a lawyer, National alliance, and organiser of Dalit Human Rights Rajat Kalsan.

According to him Yuvraj Singh made an offensive statement against the Dalit community in the year 2020. But even after eight months, no investigation was done by the police after which Rajat Kalsan approached the police. Police have registered the FIR under Sections 153, 153A, 295, 505 of IPC, besides sections 3 (1) (r) and 3 (1) (s) of SC/ST Act.

In the year 2020, Yuvraj Singh used an offensive word against Yujvendra Chahal on Instagram in a live chat with Rohit Sharma. after which he had to suffer a lot of hate on social media. Yuvraj had later apologised for the remark, saying he was misunderstood.
